If you’ve just heard about Xebec, or have seen our website or social media pages, and you’re wondering – how are Xebec’s products different? Let’s take a look at how the ceramic fiber family of products and the Back Burr Cutter and Path can help you increase productivity, improve quality, and reduce costs.

Ceramic Fiber Brushes Perform Like Cutting Tools

The Xebec family of Ceramic Fiber Products are globally patented – with 500-1000 continuous fibers per bristle, our brushes are almost entirely made of ceramic fiber for the perfect balance of flexibility and rigidity. This allows our brushes to deburr and improve surface finish with exceptional speed and consistency! They are self-sharpening and end-cutting, allowing a consistent finish from the first pass to the last. Our brushes have unsurpassed grinding power, in fact up to 60 times as much as a standard nylon impregnated brush. Our Ceramic Fibers do not deform over time, which allows them to always contact the part. Xebec Ceramic Fiber products perform just like a cutting tool, with Depth of Cut, Feed Rate, and Square Feet per Minute determining performance and tool life. Also, like a cutting tool, our Xebec Ceramic Fiber performs better with coolant – in fact, we have had thousands of applications with no adverse effect on the machine tools.

Xebec Ceramic Fiber Brushes Outperform Nylon Impregnated Brushes

Compare all of this with a nylon impregnated brush, which is mostly filler with a small amount of abrasive mixed in. They are very flexible and deform over a short period of time, creating an inconsistent surface finish. They do not perform like a cutting tool and are not made for high rates of material removal. And that residue left on the part creates more work after the machining cycle.

The Back Burr Cutter & Path

Now that we’ve explained the benefits of the Ceramic Fiber products, It is time to move to the Back Burr Cutter and Path. It may look like a standard lollipop cutter, but there is much more than meets the eye. The Back Burr Cutter is unparalleled in quality, made from cemented carbide with an AlTiCrN coating. This allows the cutter to work with all materials from aluminum to Inconel and Titanium. It is also available in neck down and standard shank, helping to perfectly fit most applications. The helical blade delivers an exceptionally clean cutting edge, eliminating secondary burs. Thanks to this high performance design, it performs much faster than similar cutters. The performance of this exceptional tool alongside our custom path data is second-to-none, making it perfect for high production applications. Xebec programs a custom path software for your complex edge profile, letting you completely and perfectly deburr your part. When you buy the cutter and path, you own the software outright – there are no subscriptions or maintenance fees. The path software’s Uniform Edge Shape results in consistent deburring along the path, no matter the shape or orientation. Our Path helps you to get the most from your tool investment – being specifically programmed for our tool and your application, the path program uses the entirety of the tool’s cutting surface. This effectively eliminates premature tool wear and notch wear, saving you money over time.

Cutting fiber brushes and stones are cutting tools and are often rotated at high speeds with a power tool or in a machine tool. They should never be operated at higher than the maximum speeds listed. When using these tools, safety glasses and gloves should be worn. Breathing the dust created by using these products for prolonged periods of time should be avoided.
